The LCWAG Research & Impact Hub periodically conducts the Voices of Loudoun Women Pulse Survey to identify and monitor the important issues in our community that impact women residing in Loudoun County.

Feedback informs LCWAG’s program development and is shared in published reports to support the informed investment of state and local funds, as well as resource alignment for other nonprofit organizations.

Voices of Loudoun Survey and Impact Report

This report includes the latest findings from the Voices of Loudoun Women community assessment series.

For the second year in a row, more than half of survey respondents answered that they were experiencing one or more major challenges, including:

  • access to health care (including mental health);

  • housing support;

  • workforce connections;

  • and food or nutritional support.

One half of Loudoun women surveyed in December 2022 reported experiencing one or more major challenges.

This level has increased significantly since prior years, when only one third of women surveyed were experiencing major challenges.

Post-Event Report: Girl emPower Summit 2022

The Girl emPower Summit is a signature LCWAG leadership development event, hosted by girls for girls! The 2022 event theme was “Breaking Boundaries and Embracing Change,” designed for young women ages 12 to 18 years old.

For the third year in a row, 100% of attendees surveyed stated that after attending the Girl emPower Summit, they feel more confident about their future goals.

Voices of Loudoun Women research Brief

The findings detailed in the research brief come from surveys conducted by the LCWAG Research & Impact Hub during winter 2020 and spring 2021. Over 600 responses total were collected from women residing in Loudoun County. The brief highlights data on how local women are experiencing recovery from the pandemic and its impacts, including:

  • 44% of Loudoun women surveyed with school-age children report child care as an unmet need.

  • More than half of Loudoun women surveyed reported increased family responsibilities and the struggle to balance work as the major factors that have impacted their career.

  • One in ten Loudoun women surveyed in spring 2021 reported needing connections to employment or other workforce support.

  • 63% of Loudoun women surveyed reported skipping preventative health services – significantly higher than the national rate.

  • More than ⅔ of women surveyed reported that COVID-19 impacted their mental health.

Impact of COVID-19 on Loudoun Women

The Loudoun Coalition on Women and Girls surveyed women living in Loudoun County about the impact of COVID-19 on their lives. Out of nearly 400 respondents, one-third of women identified having one or more unmet needs. Click the button to view or download a PDF report of the initial findings.

LCWAG seeks to improve our outreach with the African American, Asian, and Hispanic/Latina communities to be more representative of Loudoun County's demographics. Future research will focus on understanding the top three unmet needs: child care, health care, and economics and employment issues.
